Who do we cater for?
The short answer is just about everyone! With a little communication Kernow Wildlife Tours will try and ensure that anyone who wishes to experience Cornwall's pristine Flora and Fauna can.
In a bid to maximise the experience for each guest we generally keep to a maximum of three per group. This ensures you get more out of your wildlife watching and we believe it is important that every member of the group has the greatest opportunity both to observe the wildlife closely and ask questions of your guide. However, larger groups can and will be catered for but will require further planning and discussion to ensure that logistics and itineraries suit all parties. If you are a larger party and are interested in one of our tours please do get in contact with us using the contact details on the home page.
Disability and Mobility
If you have a disability that will require some extra assistance or planning that is not a problem. Just let us know in the special instructions section of the booking form so that we can ensure that everything on the planned itinerary is appropriate so that everyone can have a magical experience.
We are also more than happy to take Children on a tour but suggest that it is a half day session, unless the child is already particularly interested in the wildlife subject. It can be a long day for a child that has no intention to learn about and enjoy the natural world. Our guide have a current DBS check and have also received safe guarding training.
On the tours you are welcome to bring along your dog. However, there are a few stipulations to allow this to happen. Firstly, you need to let us know on the booking form so that we can ensure that this is planned into the itinerary and that all relevant supplies are packed. Due to the habitat and areas that we are visiting we asked that the dog be kept on a lead at all times due to some sensitive flora and fauna. Regular toilet stops can be made, and your guide will ensure that the dog has a couple of exercise locations during the day so that they too can enjoy wild Cornwall. If your dog is of an erratic nature and likely to go missing or be disruptive we would strongly advise finding a dog minder for the day. We really wish for our guests to get value for money and would like to minimise disruptions as best we can.
Whilst on Tour
Food and Drinks
Drinks and light refreshments are included in the price of each tour and it is paramount to us that you are hydrated and comfortable throughout your time with us. We can provide you a bespoke pack lunch if you require and a section for this can be found on the booking form. We also are able to stop at some of Cornwall's finest cafes if you require a heartier dining option.
What to wear?
Cornwall is renowned for changing weather and it is not uncommon in early Spring and the autumn months to be caught in just about any type of weather condition. With this in mind it is important to bring a coat and a spare layer or two even in the summer months. You will also need some sturdy footwear that you are happy to walk with in the countryside where they may see a bit of mud at times. If you have a pair of wellies with you, please bring them along.
Your guide will pick you up at your stay location and drop you back at the end of the day and this is included in the tour price. If you would rather get collected at another location this is also not a problem and all arrangements can be amended on the booking form.
The vehicle used is a Land Rover Freelander and is a comfortable ride and more than capable of accessing all areas that we take you in a safe manner. It also has plenty of space so please don't feel like you are packing too much, we can get it loaded!
Damage and Loss of Property
The tour guides are not responsible for loss, damage or theft of luggage, cameras, binoculars, telescopes and personal belongings, or for personal injury, accidents or illness. However, we do have public liability insurance for up to £1,000,000. A copy of this can be seen on the day if required.
Booking and Payment
A completed booking request form with a £40 deposit (£25 for a half day) is required to request a tour booking. Alternatively, the same details can be provided by telephone or email, in which case the deposit is required within seven days. You will receive a booking form once you have registered an interest by e-mail, telephone or post.
When the client’s details and deposit have been received and tour dates agreed, an e-mail or postal booking confirmation will be issued, along with a deposit receipt.
Full settlement by cash or cheque is required at the start of the tour.
Cancellation and Refunds
In case of cancellation by the client more than two weeks in advance of the tour date, deposits will be refunded. No deposits can be refunded for client cancellations within two weeks of the tour date though bookings can be transferred to another date. If cancellation is the fault of Kernow Wildlife Tours a full refund will be given. Please note that bad weather will not necessarily result in the cancellation of a tour. The tour will normally go ahead unless conditions are particularly bad, in which case refunds are payable at the discretion of Kernow Wildlife Tours. We will of course attempt to adjust itineraries to cope with the conditions in a comfortable and practical manner.
